Prof. R. Nalini is working in the Department of Social Work, School of Social Sciences & International Studies, Pondicherry Central University, Puducherry. A gold medallist in PG programme of Social Work, from Madurai Institute of Social Sciences, Madurai she also has a PhD degree from the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi, Delhi. She worked as a faculty in Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi from 1999 to 2009 prior to joining Pondicherry University and has over seven years of industrial experience as a HR professional.

Prof. Nalini has published a book fully funded by ICSSR titled ‘Social Work and the Workplace’, and editor of the book titled ‘Women and Work’. She has successfully guided ten PhD scholars so far and eight of them are pursuing doctoral degree under her guidance. Prof. Nalini has contributed a lot to the University’s corporate life as first Head, Department of Social Work for two full terms and over four years as Head (I/c), Centre for Women’s Studies, Pondicherry University when she initiated the PG programme in Women’s Studies. She is a certified trainer of the POSH Act, 2013 and is actively working in this arena. She was also Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Yanam, Puducherry UT, member of several Government Committees and also Chairwoman, CII-IWN, Puducherry. Prof. Nalini has completed over seven funded research projects the most recent one was a project funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment titled ‘Towards a Drug Free Puducherry District’. In January 2024, she was sanctioned an ICMR project involving public health and substance abuse. She also trains students, community members, NGO personnel, corporate sector employees on substance abuse prevention.
